Our public relations goals are two-fold: to develop "tools" that veterinary practices can use to help educate their clients and to promote the human-animal bond, and to position veterinarians as the leaders on animal issues to the media and the public. We are supported in these efforts by our allied industry sponsors and Oregon veterinarians. Thank you for your support.
Client Education Materials
We have developed the following client education materials to assist our members in educating their clients and the public on animal health issues.
Positioning Veterinarians as Leaders on Animal Issues
It is important that the veterinary profession assume a leadership role on animal care issues. Following are some of the steps the OVMA has taken to increase its role in this area:
Media Room
Designed for both the print and broadcast media, the Media Room explains the OVMA's mission and offers a wide variety of resources and contacts to aid in story development.
Media Releases
We distribute news releases on topics such as winter and summer pet care, 4th of July safety tips, and other current issues as needed.
Letters-to-the-Editor and Op/Ed Pieces
OVMA leaders have written articles or letters-to-the-editor on topics ranging from disaster planning, appropriate animal husbandry, animal abuse, and pending legislation that involves animals and the profession.
Web Site
The pet owner and large animal/equine owner areas of this Web site are a library of animal health care information that is freely accessible to the public.
